NJ Summer Biathlon Race Two Results
43 athletes competed in the second race of the Summer Biathlon Summer Series at Vernon, New Jersey on Sunday, June 25. The Overall winner was Doug Hoover of Williamsburg, PA, who finished with a time of 17:06. The race distance was 5km with targets set at 40m. Clean Shooting Awards went to Christian Peterson and Gary Emmich. Congratulations to all the participants, who endured torrential downpours and precarious trail conditions! Time credits of 15 seconds and 30 seconds were awarded for each prone and standing hit, respectively. Race three of the NJ Summer Series will be a 5K event held on July 30th. The NJ series will conclude with an 8K event on September 10th.
A special Thank You to all the volunteers who helped out at the race. The
weather would have kept most people at home, so we really appreciate your dedication and help! Thanks too, to all the participant-volunteers - those of you who not only participate, but set up the range the day before, help score and time, teach clinic, help shop for supplies and refreshments, and help clean up after the event. Your kindness and helpfulness is not overlooked :-)
We are still in possession of a remote car key left at May's race and a large, blue and white umbrella left behind today. Please contact me if these belong to you.
I look forward to seeing everyone again at July's Garden State Games event, if not sooner!

First Annual NY-PA-NJ Summer Biathlon Championship
Attached is a flyer announcing the 1st annual NY/PA/NJ SB championship held at Pratts Falls Co Park October 7 & 8, 2006.
Though it is designated for the states of NY/PA/NJ, all are welcome from other states and Canada. The grand prize will go to one of the three states that overall runs and shoots the best...Individual awards will be presented to the top 1-5 in IBU categories for men and women.
It is important to realize that everyone's scores will count...running and
shooting...this is an inclusive event, whether match or sport category. So it is up to each state to have as many of its competitors show up.
Tentatively, lodging is at the Ramada Inn in Liverpool for $89/night with
reasonable groups (4-6) using the rooms to decrease cost and breakfast is included for all. Breakfast starts at 6AM.
The dinner after the Saturday event is a BBQ at the Park...everything will be homemade and is great!
For questions or concerns regarding the event, please email Russ Myer at:
rwmyer@twcny.rr.com or the Syracuse Club president, Nick Gretzinger at:
n.gretzinger@lmco.com.
Please spread the word and register as early as possible so we can better prepare for the event....Pratts Falls will be beautiful.
There is limited home hospitality for volunteers from PA and NJ and NY.
