New Gloucester, ME, September 22. Four Olympic Biathletes will be playing in the US Biathlon/NENSA Golf tournament on Monday, September 25 at the Falmouth Country Club.
The group includes Lowell Bailey (Lake Placid, NY), Tim Burke (Paul Smiths, NY), and Carolyn (Treacy) Bramante (Duluth, MN), who competed in the 2006 Torino Olympic Winter Games, and Stacey Wooley (Newbury, NH), a veteran of the 1998 Nagano Olympic Winter Games. Bailey placed 27th in the 20K Individual competition in Torino, his first Olympic appearance. He also teamed with Burke, Jay Hakkinen (Kasilof, AK), and Jeremy Teela (Anchorage, AK) for a ninth place finish in the Relay competition. Bramante competed in the Women’s 7.5K Sprint and anchored the Women’s Relay, which finished 15th. These three athletes are currently preparing for the upcoming World Cup season. Wooley, who works for the US Olympic Committee, retired in 2003 after a successful career, which included numerous top 20 finishes in World Cup competitions.
Joining the Olympic Biathletes on the golf course Monday will be former Boston Bruin and Hockey Hall of Fame member Ray Bourque, Bourque will play in a foursome that includes US Biathlon Chairman Lawrence Pugh.
Proceeds from the golf tournament, dinner, and auction on Monday will raise funds to support US Biathlon programs as well as the New England Nordic Ski Association. Athletes and US Biathlon officials will be available for interviews prior to the 11 AM shotgun start and after the event.
