Strategic Alliance Update to Membership
We sincerely appreciate your feedback and your commitment to ensuring a thorough and thoughtful due diligence process as our Board reviews the Strategic Alliance opportunity we have been discussing with U.S. Ski & Snowboard. We are grateful for the engagement of our members, the broader biathlon community, and the contributions of the three working groups that have supported the evaluation process and helped inform the alliance.
The Strategic Operating Alliance is designed to support the continued execution and advancement of our 2030 Plan and to protect the priorities of the U.S. Biathlon community:
- U.S. Biathlon will retain its authority and responsibilities under the Ted Stevens Act, with the U.S. Biathlon Board continuing as the governing body responsible for governance of the sport of biathlon in the United States.
- All funds dedicated to biathlon will remain ring-fenced, ensuring resources continue to directly support our athletes, biathlon programs, and initiatives.
- U.S. Biathlon will retain ownership and use of its brand assets, including its marks and intellectual property, while enabling U.S. Ski & Snowboard to assist with the creation of additional revenue through its extensive commercial program. This structure will preserve the U.S. Biathlon identity while creating additional revenue opportunities to support our athletes and the growth and sustainability of the sport.
- A formal review and assessment process will be established, and include a provision for withdrawal if agreed-upon objectives are not met. This process will provide transparency, continuous evaluation, and a pathway to address concerns or challenges.
