Midway, UT – U.S. Biathlon announced today the launch of Target Circle, a limited corporate membership club bringing together 50 Utah-based businesses to share in the excitement of Olympic biathlon and stand behind the team. The initiative comes as Utah builds momentum toward the 2034 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.

U.S. Biathlon relocated its headquarters to Midway, Utah, in summer 2024 with the goal of strengthening its national presence while building deeper relationships within the local community and tapping into the incredible venue at Soldier Hollow to grow the sport. Since the move, biathlon has been embraced by the greater Utah community and has become increasingly connected to the state’s rich sporting culture.

“As Utah continues to grow as an international sports hub in the lead-up to 2034, Target Circle is an opportunity to create meaningful connections between our organization and athletes, and the local business community,” said U.S. Biathlon CEO Jack Gierhart. “Utah has a long history of rallying around athletes and embracing the sports that bring people together. We’re proud to call Midway home, and are excited to have local businesses alongside us as we look ahead to 2030 and 2034.”

As official supporters of U.S. Biathlon, Target Circle members will provide valuable support for the organization and its athletes while receiving unique access and experiences, exclusive apparel, meaningful recognition and storytelling opportunities, and additional community and business benefits.

Target Circle is co-chaired by Sharlene Wells, Chief Public Affairs Officer for Mountain America Credit Union, and Ryan Starks, Executive Director of EDCUtah and former Executive Director of the Governor’s Office of Economic Development (GOED). Together, Wells and Starks will help guide the initiative and strengthen connections between U.S. Biathlon and Utah’s business community.

“Target Circle is designed to create a genuine opportunity for Utah businesses to be part of the U.S. Biathlon story,” said Wells. “Members will not only have the chance to support athletes competing on the world stage, but also to build connections with one another and with a sport that is gaining momentum across Utah and the country.”

Target Circle members will play a direct role in helping U.S. biathletes compete at the highest level, with the goal of bringing home the first-ever Olympic biathlon medal in U.S. history, as well as supporting the growth and development of biathlon around the country. At the same time, the initiative will create authentic connections between business, sport and community, bringing Utah businesses into the journey well before the Olympic spotlight arrives.

Target Circle is Utah showing up early, investing in the team, supporting athletes, and helping shape the future of U.S. Biathlon. Even before the official launch of the program this October, 15 businesses have already committed to be inaugural Target Circle members, including Mountain America Credit Union, Regence Blue Cross Blue Shield, Redmond, Trucordia, Osmond Design, R&R BBQ, City Journals, Minky Couture, Geneva Rock, Colliers, Sterling Financial Group, America First Credit Union, VLCM, TargetRiver, and Waterstone Human Capital.
