Applications Open for Third Season of Women’s Coaching Initiative
U.S. Biathlon is now accepting applications for the third season of the Women’s Coaching Initiative, a professional development program designed to create meaningful coaching and ski technician opportunities for women across the Nordic community, including both biathlon and cross-country skiing. Interested applicants should send a resume and letter of motivation to sara@usbiathlon.org.
The program provides selected participants with opportunities to work directly alongside U.S. Biathlon coaches, staff, and athletes at domestic and international U.S. Biathlon and IBU events throughout the season. Each participant’s experience is tailored to their background and goals, with opportunities to build technical and coaching skills, gain hands-on experience in biathlon, and take on meaningful responsibilities as part of the team. This is a paid professional development opportunity, not a traditional shadowing program, and participants will contribute directly to the work of U.S. Biathlon staff throughout the season.
Over the past two seasons, Women’s Coaching Initiative participants have made a meaningful impact across the development pipeline, contributing at World Cup, IBU Cup, Open European Championship, IBU Junior Cup, Junior Open European Championship, and Youth & Junior World Championship events, as well as domestic competitions and training camps. The initiative is part of U.S. Biathlon’s broader commitment to expanding and diversifying the coaching pipeline. The number of coaches supporting U.S. Biathlon programs has doubled over the past quadrennial, and we look forward to continuing that growth by creating more opportunities at every level.
