The sport of Biathlon is a beautiful paradox: athletes must balance the contradictory demands of all-out physical exertion required to ski fast over challenging terrain with the calm, measured composure needed to clean five targets with five shots in 10 seconds. Mastering this Olympic sport and achieving podium performances requires more than a decade of full time training, 1000’s of hours a year of practice and competition, and nonstop travel from November to March. The physical and mental demands are extraordinary and the resources required are immense. Competitive success also requires a vibrant sport and community here at home with access to biathlon venues, active and engaging youth programs, world-class coaching and a talent development pipeline that removes financial hurdles and supports athletes in their pursuit of excellence.
We have an ambitious and transformative plan for our athletes and biathlon’s long-term success which will ensure that a sustainable system of clubs across the nation will attract talented, young athletes and offer them the foundation needed to succeed on the world stage and win medals at the Olympic Winter Games. Our plan centers on growing the base of biathlon and recruiting and developing top skiing talent. Underpinning every aspect of our plan is holistic athlete support with a world-class High-Performance Program and an organization committed to excellence.
We know with the right support for our athletes, the biathlon community and our organization, our athletes will stand on the Olympic podium as champions. That’s why we need you, standing with us as a supporter to help provide the critical resources our athletes and plan requires. We hope you'll join us on this journey and be part of this extraordinary opportunity to win America’s last first winter Olympic medal.United States Biathlon is non-profit corporation recognized as tax-exempt by the Internal Revenue Service with number tax ID number 03-0279959.
