Laser & Electronic Biathlon
U.S. biathlon is actively participating in the International Biathlon Union's Biathlon 4 All campaign designed to increase the number of biathletes all over the world. Towards that end we have been ensuring young cross country skiers have access to trying laser biathlon at cross country ski races all over the country. Around 2500 youth & junior skiers have been introduced to Laser Biathlon at Try-It events annually since 2023. Starting in 2026, there will be more ways for young skiers to experience the thrill of biathlon utilizing this modern laser technology!

Super Sprint Laser Biathlon Challenge is designed to challenge young skiers with less than 1km of total skiing. The approximately 300 meter ski loops provide just enough to increase the heart rate and give the experience of a real Biathlon Challenge. Practice first with the Laser rifles, then get in line for the Challenge which includes skiing one loop, then shooting prone on standing sized targets, then skiing a 2nd loop, then shooting prone on prone sized targets, then skiing to the finish.
Information To Note
- Super short ski course to minimize ski distance required
- Time penalty for missed shots instead of penalty loops to minimize extra skiing
- No fee, no pre-registration, & no waiver required
- Custom LBC ski tie for completing the challenge
- Entry into the season end raffle with QR code signup for U.S. Biathlon Newsletter
- Results for each Challenge to be posted on the U.S. Biathlon webpage
