U.S. Biathlon Membership#
Last year, the International Biathlon Union (IBU) implemented a new age-group year starting July 1 instead of Nov. 1 as it had previously been. As summer events get bigger, IBU felt athletes should be competing in the age group they would be racing in during the coming season, rather than the one they just completed. We agree, and this new start date lines up with U.S. Biathlon's fiscal year as well. As such, we have made the decision to move our membership cycle to run July 1-June 30 starting this season.
It is important to note that this new membership cycle will not impact current memberships and no other major changes are planned for membership types or prices this season. We hope that with the new membership cycle, it will be clearer what competition category you are in and what membership fits best.
You may have some questions, and we hope the below FAQ helps answer them!
