Craftsbury Green Racing Project

Bjorn Westervelt grew up in Stowe, VT and began skiing as soon as he could walk. He was introduced to biathlon at age 12 through EABC and soon began training with the Craftsbury Junior Ski Club. His first international race was the 2017 Liatoppen Biathlon Festival in Al, Norway and he went on to compete in five Youth/Junior Biathlon World Championships. Bjorn attended UVM, studying Mechanical Engineering while racing for the UVM Nordic Ski Team and continuing his biathlon career. He earned silver in the 10km Sprint and gold in the 12.5km Pursuit at the 2023 FISU World University Games. Most recently, he won the Mass Start and Super Sprint at 2025 US Biathlon National Championships. Bjorn now trains and competes with the US Biathlon National Team and the Craftsbury Green Racing Project.

Outside of biathlon, Bjorn enjoys c
ooking, eating good food, woodworking and carpentry, and sleeping.

  1. He loves pasta! Could and would gladly eat it every single day!
  2. He is really good at fixing/building things. He likes to challenge himself to figure out how almost everything around him was made and think of better ways to redesign it.
  3. He is slightly obsessed with maple syrup and he doesn't travel without it.
