The U.S. Biathlon National Team recently wrapped up a three-week European training block in Livigno and Antholz, Italy. From combo workouts and range sessions to hiking, biking, and roller skiing through the Dolomites, it was a valuable mix of training and team time. The team is now back in the U.S. preparing for the upcoming 2025 Summer National Championships in Jericho, VT, August 2–3.

As one of two main altitude camps of the summer training season, this specific camp plays a key role in preparation for the upcoming season and 2026 Olympic Winter Games, set to take place at the Südtirol Arena in Antholz, Italy February 8-22, 2026. The altitude training enhances the body’s ability to transport and utilize oxygen - improving both aerobic and anaerobic performance, endurance, and recovery, all vital as the athletes prepare to race at high altitudes throughout the season and at the Games. The ability to train not only at Olympic altitude but on the actual Olympic course offers a unique and valuable advantage on our road to Milan-Cortina 2026.

The training block kicked off in Livigno, Italy, where the team trained alongside biathletes from Canada, Finland, and Latvia. Highlights include a collaborative team shootout at the Livigno range, and climbing 9,045 ft (2,757 m) up the iconic Stelvio Pass, the highest pass road in Italy, where they encountered snow in July. The second half of camp took place in Antholz, with hours upon hours of training on the Olympic course, a time trial with Canada, Finland, Germany, and Latvia, and still time to hike, run, bike, and relax in the picturesque South Tyrol town. Following the upcoming 2025 Summer National Championship, the National Team will be back at the Olympic and Paralympic Training Center in late August for the second Lake Placid team camp of the summer.
