U.S. Biathlon Fall Festival and International Team Trials Wraps Up in Midway, Utah

The 2025 U.S. Biathlon Fall Festival and International Team Trials brought the nation’s top biathletes together at Soldier Hollow for an exciting three days of head-to-head racing, testing athletes’ early-season form under challenging conditions.
The three senior team trials races kicked off with a sprint on September 30, where Luci Anderson claimed the top spot in the women’s race, followed by Deedra Irwin and Margie Freed. On the men’s side, Maxime Germain took the win ahead of Jake Brown and Paul Schommer.
To kick off the Fall Festival weekend, U.S. Biathlon hosted its Annual Awards to celebrate the successes of athletes and coaches from the 2024-25 season. Read more HERE.
The weekend continued with another sprint on October 3, as Joanne Reid earned the victory in the senior women’s race, with Chloe Levins and Canadian biathlete Nadia Moser rounding out the podium. The senior men’s race saw Campbell Wright take first, ahead of Germain and Brown. Sophie Bunnell of Team Soldier Hollow led the women’s Open field, followed by Eva Driggs of Anchorage Biathlon Club, and Allison Berry, also of Team Soldier Hollow. Anchorage Biathlon Club’s Lance Smith topped the men’s Open race, with Willett Richey and Sorin Husby, both of Crosscut Mountain Sports Center, finishing second and third.
Racing wrapped up on October 4 with the Mass Start, where Anderson returned to the top of the women’s senior podium, joined by Canadian Benita Pieffer in second and Levins in third. Schommer took the senior men’s mass start title ahead of Wright and Vincent Bonacci. In the Open races, Driggs claimed victory for the Anchorage Biathlon Club, followed by Berry and Lily Neyme, both representing Team Soldier Hollow. On the men’s side, Cyrus Pott of SVSEF earned the win, with Richey and Husby once again securing podium finishes for Crosscut Mountain Sports Center.
It was a fantastic weekend of racing, with athletes pushing their limits on both the course and the range. All race results can be found at usbiathlon.org/results.
With just over five weeks until the 2025–26 race season kicks off, the senior team of 16 athletes will soon head to Obertilliach, Austria, for the final on-snow pre-season training camp, which will determine the World Cup and IBU Cup rosters for the opening stages of the season.
