Reid Earns First Flowers at Arber IBU Cup
Joanne Reid (Grand Junction, CO/Colorado Biathlon Club) hit her IBU Cup personal best with a fifth place finish in today’s women’s 12.5km short individual in Arber, GER. Reid shot a near-perfect 19 for 20 on the range, missing just one target in her last standing stage, and held the 10th-best ski time of the day to secure her first ever flowers.
Jackie Garso (Lake Clear, NY/Craftsbury Green Racing Project), in her first international race of the season, placed 63rd in the field of 115. Kelsey Dickinson (Winthrop, WA/Craftsbury Green Racing Project) raced to 74th, and Grace Castonguay (Jackson, NH/Soldier Hollow Elite) finished 98th.
Earlier in the day, the U.S. men’s team also saw top performances from Vincent Bonacci (Salt Lake City, UT/Unaffiliated) and Vaclav Cervenka (Grand Rapids, MN/Army World Class Athlete Program). Bonacci, holding a top-25 ski time, led the way placing 12th, his best international racing result since the 2023-24 season. Cervenka followed closely behind in 13th, his best international racing result since the 2022-23 season. Bjorn Westervelt (Stowe, VT/Craftsbury Green Racing Project) rounded out the men’s squad in 67th.
A day off from racing tomorrow, the U.S. Biathlon Team will be back at it in Arber on Saturday for a pair of sprint races, followed by a pair of pursuit races on Sunday. Racing can be followed live on the IBU App; click HERE for more information.
